The girl with the dragon tattoo

"The girl with the dragon tattoo" is a crime, dramatic and mystery film.

Director: David Fincher
Writers: Steven Zaillian(screenplay),Stieg Larsson(novel)
Stars: Daniel Craig,Rooney Mara,Christopher Plummer

Plot:
Journalist Mikael Blomkvist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years by Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker.

Personal review:
So,it was actually the second time I've seen this film as I've already watched the Sweedish production so practically I knew what was going to happen.Which one was better?I think the Sweedish one.I mean the actors/actresses weren't well-known like Daniel Craig but the whole movie takes place in Sweeden so in the first production you could "feel the spirit" more. The bad thing about both films is that they last too long and at the parts where this happens there isn't something that is super exciting or that could make you want to know more,so it ends up being boring at somepoint.Especially in the American production which lasts almost three hours. It is a good movie,I can't doubt that but it would be so much better if some parts were cut off.Plus,be prepared because there are some pretty violent scenes that I'm sure you won't enjoy, but they really help to understand some reactions of the characters.

Cast:
Daniel Craig-Mikael Blomkvist
Rooney Mara-Lisbeth Salander
Christopher Plummer-Henrik Vanger
Robin Wright-Erika  Berger

W.E.

Madonna

Writers: Madonna,Alek Keshishian
Stars: Abbie Cornish,James D'Arcy,Andrea Riseborough

Plot:
The affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson, and a contemporary romance between a married woman and a Russian security guard.

Personal Review:
One of the movies that I was interested in watching not because of their plot but mostly because of their director and in this one the director was Madonna,so as many people I said that it wouldn't be a good movie. But I was wrong actually. It was good and interesting.I really liked the plot and the cast, even though the actors/actresses weren't well-known.I didn't expect that Madonna could manage to make a movie like this one so it was a pleasant surprise. But ok it wasn't a mastrerpiece. It was a romantic movie based on a true love story, that of King edward and Wallis Simpson.I wouldn't watch it again anytime soon but it was a good movie to spend your night with.

Cast:
Abbie Cornish-Wally Winthrop
Andrea Riseborough-Wallis Simpson
James D'Arcy-Edward

Plot:

Personal Review:
One question:How did this movie got an Oscar?!?Honestly now,it was sooooooooo boring and meaningless...Only music...They talked once in a 100 min movie!!!I was like "kill me now!"...Seriously,I've started thinking about how reliable Oscars can be..I mean,ok Jean Dujardin was excellent at his role let's say that he indeed was worth taking an Oscar but the movie??Noooooo!!Whoever of you is planning on watching it then don't.I didn't like it at all..I'm disappointed cause I expected something better. When it was released someone said that you'll either love or hate it...I'm in the second category...

Jean Dujardin-George Valentin

My week with Marilyn

"My week with Marilyn" is a biography and dramatic film.

Simon Curtis
Director: Simon Curtis
Writers: Adrian Hodges,Colin Clark(books)
Stars: Michelle Williams,Eddie Redmayne,Kenneth Branagh

Plot:
Colin Clark, an employee of Sir Laurence Olivier's, documents the tense interaction between Olivier and Marilyn Monroe during production of The Prince and the Showgirl.

Personal Review:
I really wanted to watch this movie since the moment I heard it was released.A real story is always by far more fascinating than an imaginary one and especially if it's the story of one of the most important people like Marilyn Monroe.Everything's real. The movie "The prince and the Showgirl" exists and imagine that in order to show how things actually were they even refilmed some parts of the old film.Plus to the stunning acting by Michelle Williams who at some points really looked like the original Marilyn.Definitely recommended.

Cast:
Michelle Williams-Marilyn Monroe

Eddie Redmayne-Colin Clark

Julia Ormond-Vivien Leigh

Kenneth Branagh-Sir Laurence Olivier

Emma Watson-Lusy

Dominic Cooper-Milton Greene

Judi Dench-Dame Sybil Thorndike

Hugo

"Hugo" is an adventurus,dramatic,family movie.

Martin Scorsese
Director:Martin Scorsese
Writers: John Logan(screenplay),Brian Selznick(book)
Stars:Asa Butterfield,Chloe Grace Moretz,Christopher Lee

Plot:
Set in 1930s Paris, an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station is wrapped up in a mystery involving his late father and an automaton.

Personal Review:
To tell you the truth I was dissappointed by this film.I don't know why but I was expecting much more.First of all it's a fairytale and not a good one.Soooo predictable and it took so long.At some point you are getting bored if you ae npt a primary school child. It lasted for 2 hours and also the explanation given at some parts were silly in my opinion. If you want to watch it go ahead but make sure that the thing you want to watch is another predictable film and if you have little brothers or sisters better leave them watch it by their own.The good thing was that the durector "Goerge Melies" is actually real. And the fact that this film got 5 Oscars but they were all about the technology used.

Cast:
Chloe Grace Moretz-Izabelle

Asa Butterfield-Hugo Cabret

The Help

"The Help" is a dramatic movie.

Director: Tate Taylor
Writers: Tate Taylor(screenplay),Kathryn Stockett(novel)
Stars: Emma Stone,Viola Davis,Octavia Spencer

Plot:
An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maid's point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis.

Personal Review:
An unexpectedly great film. When I first saw the trailer I thought it would be just a common film but it was very interesting. It was also funny at some points regardless being called a "dramatic" film. It's the true stories of how maids were treated in America on the 1960s.It makes you hate people for the way they treat the others and it leaves you a bittersweet feeling in the end.It helps you understand that no matter what your colour is you have feelings, needs and thoughts just like anyone else.Plus,Octavia Spencer won both a golden globe and an Oscar for her role in "The Help" and I think she was totally worth it!

Cast:
Emma Stone-Skeeter Phelan
Viola Davis-Aibileen Clark
Octavia Spencer-Minny Jackson
AllisonJanney-Charlotte Phelan
